Keep your grill on an even surface; at least 10 feet from all combustibles - anything that can catch fire or burn; this includes your home, your wooden fence, even tree branches or decorations that may be over-head.

And never leave it unattended.

First aid kits aren't just boxes—they’re lifelines.

Keep them stocked, labeled, and close at hand.

Hot days in the city can sneak up on you especially in the summer heat and humidity.

Drink water throughout the day, even if you are not thirsty, avoid sugary caffeinated or alcoholic drinks - they dehydrate you.

Take breaks in the shade or indoors when outdoors for long periods of time.

Heat stroke is serious.

Look out for signs—dizziness, nausea, and heavy sweating.

Watch each other’s backs out there.

A working smoke alarm doubles your chance of survival.

Test it monthly.

Change batteries yearly.

Install smoke alarms in every bedroom, in hallways outside sleeping areas, and on every level of your home.

If cooking sets off the alarm, don’t disable it—open a window or use a fan to help clear the smoke, but always keep your smoke detector working.
