Welcome to the Atlanta Fire 's Office of Special Events! Atlanta is one of the most exciting places in the country to host a special event. We’re a diverse, vibrant city filled with exciting outdoor events all year round. Atlanta is host to more than five hundred outdoor events annually. A Special Event is an event such as a festival, outdoor concert, road race, parade, fair, farmers market, etc., held in private or public outdoor space. Such events may feature entertainment, amusements, food and beverages and other activities requiring the assistance and compliance of various city agencies.
The primary responsibility of the AFRD Special Events office is to review the EMS, restroom, and water plan of your outdoor event to ensure it meets the minimum requirements specified in the 2007 Outdoor Event Ordinance and to provide guidance in the interest of public safety.
The Atlanta-Fire Rescue Department Special Events Office serves several functions on a day-to-day basis, including, but not limited to:
- Reviewing all outdoor event applications and issuing an approval or denial of the emergency services sub-permit and water sub-permit.
- Organizing the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department’s signature events, programs, and initiatives
