CPAT Pre-Test Program

The AFRD utilize the Candidate Physical Agility Test (CPAT) for our physical testing requirement.  This is a pass/fail test based on a maximum total time of 10 minutes and 20 seconds.  You are encouraged to begin conditioning yourself for CPAT right away. It is a rigorous test designed to determine the physical abilities of a person wanting to enter the fire service.

The AFRD offers every candidate the opportunity to participate in a CPAT Pre-Test Program. The Pre-Test Program includes two (2) orientation sessions and two (2) timed practice runs prior to the official CPAT test. If during one of the timed practice runs, a candidate successfully completes the course, that practice will be considered as passing the CPAT test and they WILL NOT have to participate any further. Orientation sessions DO NOT include a timed trial.
