The Atlanta Fire Rescue Department (AFRD) is seeking qualified and committed individuals for the position of Firefighter/ Advanced-EMT (Recruit). The AFRD staffs 35 fire stations, including five stations at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. We have more than 1,100 employees, sworn and civilian, serving an area of 132 square miles within the Atlanta city limits.

AFRD's recruitment office is appointment-only, individuals without a confirmed CPAT/interview appointment will be turned away.

AFRD does not permit "ride-alongs". 

Please note that AFRD does not offer a "Fast-Track" program for experienced firefighters nor lateral positions. However, we encourage anyone to apply. 

AFRD offers only 3 firefighter recruit classes a year. Placement into these classes is dependent on applicant's physical ability test, written test, interview, background investigation, medical exam, and psychological exam.
