Atlanta Fire Rescue Department responded to the 70 block of Peyton Place SW following reports of a residential structure fire.
Upon arrival, crews encountered light smoke conditions in a two-story townhome and quickly located a fire originating in a first-floor closet. Firefighters initiated an aggressive interior attack, placed water on the fire, and conducted primary and secondary searches of the affected unit and adjacent exposures.
The fire was quickly brought under control, and firefighters checked for extension into neighboring units and the attic space. One resident was evaluated for minor smoke exposure, and no serious injuries were reported.
The fire was confined to the area of origin, preventing significant damage to surrounding residences. Fire investigators responded to determine the cause of the fire, and Red Cross assistance was provided to displaced occupants.
