Atlanta Fire Rescue Department was involved in a traffic collision at approximately 7:40 a.m. at the intersection of Lenox Road NE and Peachtree Road NE while responding to an emergency call.
The fire apparatus was operating with emergency lights and sirens activated and came to a complete stop before proceeding through the intersection with due regard for public safety. While continuing its response, the apparatus was struck by a passenger vehicle.
Several firefighters are being transported for evaluation. The driver of the passenger vehicle was evaluated on scene and declined transport. The driver of the passenger vehicle was issued a citation.
The incident remains under investigation.
