Atlanta’s E-911 system is fully operational - Verizon Outage

Post Date:01/14/2026

Atlanta’s E-911 system is fully operational and able to receive inbound emergency calls as well as place outbound calls.

Verizon wireless customers are able to dial Atlanta’s E-911; however, some customers may be unable to make outbound calls at this time.

If you are unable to make calls, Atlanta’s 911 offers alternative options for contacting emergency services. Residents may use the web portal by visiting https://www.atlantaga.gov/request-dispatch, or utilize the Text-to-911 option when available.

We have received reports from Verizon customers indicating their cellular devices are displaying “SOS” mode. While most mobile phones are able to place emergency calls to 911 in this mode, residents are reminded to use 911 only for true emergencies and not to check the status of their device or service.

For service-related questions or updates, customers should contact Verizon directly.
