Educational Incentives

Associates Degree - 3.5% increase in base pay
Bachelor’s Degree - 7% increase in base pay

Paramedic Incentives

Paramedic not assigned to a position 3.5% increase in base pay
Paramedic assigned to a position 10.5% increase in base pay


Military Signing Bonus

Veterans who received an honorable or General Discharge can earn
$5,000 signing bonus.

Bilingual Incentive

From fire rescue recruits up to appointment of Battalion Chief are eligible for
a 2% increase in base salary upon successful completion of proficiency
testing. (Spanish)


Other Firefighter Special incentives

Certified to drive and operate the Engine 1.75% increase in base pay
Certified to drive and operate the Tiller Truck 1.75% increase in base pay
Certified to ride the seat (OIC) 3.5% increase in base pay

Airport Master Firefighter

3.5% increase in base pay
(All prerequisites must be met to qualify)
Possess three years documented experience as an Airport Firefighter
Candidates can substitute ARFF (Airport Rescue Firefighter) experience with four years of
documented structural firefighting experience for everyone year of
ARFF experience sought, regardless of rank
Completion of a 40‐hour ARFF Training Program
Completion of National Incident Management System (NIMS)
100/200/700

Tuition Assistance Program (TAP)

Up to $1,800 per calendar year
(All prerequisites must be met to qualify)
Thanks to the support of Citizens Across Atlanta, the Atlanta Fire
Rescue Foundation is now able to start awarding college tuition
reimbursement to Atlanta Fire Rescue personnel that qualify for the
